Hyderabad: The death of Kukunoorpally sub-inspector P. Prabhakar Reddy took a new turn as investigating officials found its link to the mysterious death of beautician Aurumilli Vijayalakshmi alias Sirisha in Jubilee Hills.
As Sirisha’s mother Ramalakshmi and her husband Satish alleged that she was killed and projected as a suicide, the post-mortem report confirmed she was beaten and sustained injuries on lips, cheeks, head and neck.
Meanwhile, Rajiv, the owner of the photo studio where she worked and his friend Sravan are being questioned in separate places.
Prabhakar Reddy shot himself after leaving the police station on Wednesday morning, while Sirisha was found hanging on Tuesday under mysterious circumstances at RJ Professional Photo Studio at Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad.
Last year, SI Ramakrishna Reddy of the same police station ended his life in the same manner. Like the last year incident, this incident too created quite a sensation and sparked outrage among the police personnel. Prabhakar Reddy too left a three-page suicide note addressed to Chief Minister alleging harassment by higher ups. His relatives and the villagers gathered in large number and staged a protest in front of the police station.
However, by evening, there were reports that Reddy knew Sirisha and that she had spent last night with him along with Rajeev and Sravan, both now being questiond by the police. Subsequently, news channels aired stories alleging that Prabhakar Reddy had a connection with Sirisha, who was working as a beautician in Hyderabad. It is also alleged that Prabhakar, in an inebriated condition, allegedly raped Sirisha which prompted her to commit suicide. The reports also claimed that Reddy was afraid that his name would be dragged into the incident and killed self.
However, locals of Kukunoorpally, however, rejected these claims and demanded that Reddy’s suicide note be made public. They said there was a systematic attempt to bail out the officials who drove Reddy to suicide and to tarnish Reddy’s character. They demanded a comprehensive probe into the incident. Prabhakar was well-known in 26 villages in the mandal and everyone knew about his nature, they said. They suspected that the SI committed suicide due to severe pressure from the higher officials.
